Opto22 manufactures hardware and software products
that link all kinds of electrical, mechanical, and electronic
devices and machines to networks and computers. Opto22 controllers,
I/O (input and output modules), solid-state relays, and software are
used for industrial automation, remote monitoring, data acquisition,
and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. In other words, Opto22
translates data between computer and machine.
Opto 22's SNAP PAC System is an integrated system of hardware and software for industrial control, remote monitoring, and data acquisition applications.
Analog I/O modules handle devices that have a range of possible values. Temperature sensors and proportional valves are examples of analog devices.
Digital I/O modules handle devices that can be in only one of two states: either on or off (true or false, 0 or 1, running or stopped, etc.). Push buttons and LEDs are examples of digital devices.
SNAP Serial communication modules connect to serial devices via RS-232 or RS-485/422, or using the Profibus® or the Wiegand® protocol. Motion control modules are also in this category.
Brains are I/O processors that provide distributed control. Brains perform basic control functions such as on/off control, counting, and latching, as well as complex tasks such as PID control and temperature conversion.
PAC Project Programmable Automation Controllers. SNAP PAC S-series and SNAP PAC R-series controllers are fully integrated with the PAC Project software suite.
PAC Project Software is fully integrated with SNAP PAC System hardware, reducing development time, effort, and cost. PAC Project Basic is included in your purchase of a SNAP PAC controller and also can be downloaded from this section. PAC Project Professional adds network segmenting or Ethernet link redundancy and provides a migration path for Opto 22 FactoryFloor customers.
Opto22 has been in business since 1974 and started
manufacturing a complete line of solid-state relays up until 2007.
In 2007 they introduced the SNAP PAC System and have been recognized
for product reliability and their innovative approach.
Opto22 originated the red-black-yellow-white
input/output (I/O) module color scheme and developed and published
the Optomux protocol. Both became industry standards. They
co-founded the OPC protocol, industrial automation’s universal
communication technology, and then brought the world’s most popular
open network to I/O systems with the introduction of Ethernet
I/O.
